Hey there! I’m Margaret, the venue manager at the Millbottom. I took over management of the facility a year and a half ago (although you might have seen me around before then), and I love getting to be a part of so many big moment’s in people’s lives as a part of my job.

Here at the venue I do a little bit of everything. I’m responsible for tours, bookings, building and grounds maintenance, and setup/breakdown of events. If you’ve been on one of my tours, you’ve probably figured out that I love meeting new people and the occasional dad joke.

Even though not all parts of the job are glamorous, I love working in the world of events. Each week brings something new, and I love how I’m always on my toes.

When I’m not at work, you can catch me hanging out with my family, enjoying time outside, and some weekends working at my other job as a wedding coordinator with Sentimentally Yours Event Co. (I told you I really love weddings!).

What made you want to join The Millbottom and wedding industry?

I’ve always had a passion for events! I started out as a marketing major in college because I felt like I needed to have a “real degree”, but I quickly switched routes when I found I was still being drawn into the events world. I then switched to a degree in Entertainment Management with an emphasis in Venue and Event management. The emotion and joy that comes with working in events just draws me in, and makes me love my job!

The building on the other hand, didn’t have quite as smooth of an approach. The building was originally renovated with the intent to lease it as a restaurant or bar space, but when a friend of the management had their wedding here, it sort of took off as a wedding venue from there.

What are your favorite things about being a wedding vendor?

Because the venue is often one of the first aspects picked, when I get to see couples start to realize their dreams will be reality it is really an incredible moment. I love the joy that comes with being one of the first steps in wedding planning.

What do you look forward to the most when meeting a potential client?

I love the connection I get to make with our clients. I think that’s part of my passion for working in weddings, that it is such a personal business. We’re not just doing a business transaction, we’re playing a part in their life story.

What is your favorite part of your specific process as it relates to planning the wedding day?

I really enjoy planning appointments when couples come in excited to share all the details they’ve planned. Each wedding has something unique about it, and I love hearing the personal elements they’re including.

If you could host the wedding of any couple past or present, who would it be?

Oh man, that’s a tough one. I think I would love to be a part of Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas’s celebrations. The thought and details of their different heritages they put into both/all their ceremonies was incredible. Also, her train – who didn’t love that??
