The 8 Sweetest First Dance Songs You May Have Never Heard Before

Weddings

Okay guys, as most of you know, I’m a little bit obsessed with music. I’m married to a music teacher and grew up singing and playing violin. My husband and I enjoy all sorts of different music! Now that I’m in the wedding business, I can’t help but imagine some of my favorite songs as the perfect first dance song at your wedding! So without further ado, here are a few of the sweetest first dance songs that you may have never heard before!

(I Do) Like We Do – Harry Connick Jr.

If you’re looking for something a little more upbeat with some super sweet and meaningful lyrics to last through your entire marriage, this song is for you. The tempo is uplifting and inspiring, and the New Orleans jazzy feel is sure to bring a smile to yours and your guests faces! This is the perfect first dance song for an upbeat couple that’s been together for years!

Consider Me – Allen Stone

Ah, Allen. One of mine and my husband’s favorite artists. Thank goodness he recently got married, because it inspired him to write this GEM of a song. A little more uptempo, this is another song that’s sure to put a smile on your face and get your hips swaying. The words are powerful, and you’ll find yourself singing this later! Also check out “Give You Blue“!

I Have and Always Will – Dave Barnes

Alright don’t make fun of me, but the next three songs are all by Dave Barnes. This guy is just sooooo good at writing sweet, romantic songs! First up is a song specifically written for a wedding dance! It’s such an intimate song with an acoustic guitar and soft vocals, perfect for those first dances where all you want to do is hold each other close and feel each other’s hearts beating.

On A Night Like This – Dave Barnes

Another intimate song by Dave Barnes, this one touches at the more romantic side of things. This is the perfect song for those couples who really just want the dancing to begin and end so they can leave and spend the rest of the night alone together! P.s. there’s a shorter version of this song as well as a version by Lady Antebellum!

Nothing Fancy – Dave Barnes

The final of my three Dave Barnes songs may just be my favorite. This song was played by one our friends during our wedding ceremony, so it really means a lot to me and brings back such perfect memories. I just love the honest lyrics, the simplicity of the music, and that last line that just brings it all together! After you’re done here, check out more perfect wedding songs by Dave Barnes including the upbeat “Good Day for Marrying You“!

First Try – Johnnyswim

Another artist with SO MANY great songs! This is just the sweetest, most playful song that is sure to bring a huge smile to your face! The tempo is a little more upbeat and it’ll make you feel like it’s just the two of you in the room! Check out more perfect first dance songs by Johnnyswim including “Touching Heaven” and “Take the World“.

I Am Yours – Andy Grammer

What else is there to say? These singer-songwriters just knock it out of the park when it comes to love songs. They sing from their heart and life experience, and that’s just what Andy Grammer does in this song. Another simple song with powerful lyrics that’ll have you holding each other close during your first dance.

Fall In – Esperanza Spalding

Last, but not least, is the song that Matt and I danced to at our wedding reception. We love the dreamy sound of Esperanza’s voice mixed with the jazz piano. This song makes me feel like I’m floating and the lyrics are so ethereal! Definitely one to check out if you want a very classic, romantic sounding first dance song!
