Samantha and Kara were married on a perfect day the first Sunday in September at the Legacy Barn in Barnett, MO. The day started out overcast, but the rain stayed away and the sun eventually came out leaving us with perfect weather, although warm, to celebrate!
The day started out in the Legacy Barn getting ready rooms, where both brides were just a room away from each other! There were some logistics that had to happen in order for both girls to get hair and makeup done without seeing each other before their first look!
Two brides means two gowns and lots of emotions as mom’s and sister’s helped each bride into her wedding day attire. Each bride wrote a letter to each other that they read alone after they were dressed. It was such an emotional moment for each bride, and I was honored to be a fly on the wall and hear just how special the relationship is between these two women and that it is rooted in love for each other, family, and the joys of life itself!
After reading their letters, the brides shared a first look under a large tree outside of the Legacy Barn. Sam became tearful with excitement just seeing Kara standing with her back turned under that tree! Seeing these two walk toward each other and embrace was truly adorable! Two brides also means we got to set up two first looks with dad! There’s a reason the first look with dad is one of my favorite moments of each wedding day!
Guests were arriving, so we prepared for the ceremony to start. The string lights in the barn and at the altar made the ceremony so dreamy and magical. The girls exchanged vows and rings and finally shared a first kiss as wife and wife! The exited the aisle with joy and excitement as the first day of the rest of their lives began!
After the ceremony we took family portraits and I whisked the brides off to do bridal portraits. The sun was pouring through the trees and adding a glow to each bridal gown. Every once in a while, a passing car would honk to share in the joy of the day!
It was hot and buggy, and we were all ready to celebrate with food, toasts, and dancing! We entered the reception to see the beautiful terrarium and succulent decorations on the tables! The string lights at the altar once again added a dreamy element to the head table where the girls sat with their closest friends and family! After toasts and a sweet prayer by Kara’s niece, food was enjoyed and dancing began!
After the first dances as wife and wife, the couple shared a first dance with each of their father’s and mother’s. Then the party really began and the dance floor filled up! Even grandma’s came out to dance with the couple! After dancing, the couple did a “selfie” dance. Once again, grandma’s didn’t miss out on the fun! The couple continued dancing the night away with friends and family.
Sam and Kara, I can’t wait to see you go through life together! It was a joy and pleasure for me to take part in your big day and be a tiny part of your beginning! Thank you!
xoxo, Amanda
